What is a general service?
A general service is routine maintenance that keeps your car's engine, fluids and safety systems in good condition. It's ideal for cars that are out of their new-car warranty, or for drivers who want the essentials checked and replaced on time.
We change the engine oil and filter, top up fluids and inspect the parts that wear: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, belts, hoses and battery. If something needs attention, we show you and explain why before any extra work is done, so you decide what happens next.
Signs your car is due for a service
- It's been around 12 months or 10,000 km since the last service (your owner's manual lists the exact interval)
- The service reminder or oil warning light is on
- The engine oil looks dark and gritty, or the level keeps dropping
- The engine feels rougher, noisier or less responsive than usual
- Fuel economy has dropped for no obvious reason
- You're about to head off on a long drive or road trip

Frequently asked questions
How often should I service my car?
Most cars need a service every 12 months or 10,000 to 15,000 km, whichever comes first, but it varies by make, model and how you drive. Short trips, towing and dusty roads all count as harder use. Your owner's manual lists the right interval, and we're happy to check it for you.
What's the difference between a general service and a log book service?
A log book service follows your manufacturer's schedule for that specific kilometre or time interval and is stamped in your service book. A general service covers the essentials: oil, filters, fluids and a safety inspection. If your car is under warranty, a log book service is usually the better choice.
Will you do extra work without asking me?
No. If the inspection finds something, we explain the problem, show you where we can and give you the options. Nothing extra is done until you've approved it.
How long will my car be at the workshop?
It depends on your car and what it needs. When you book, we'll give you an expected pick-up time and call you if anything changes.
