Clutch & Transmission Repairs in Queanbeyan

Slipping clutch, grinding gears or rough automatic shifts? We'll diagnose the problem and explain your options before any work begins.

About clutch and transmission repairs

In a manual car, the clutch connects the engine to the gearbox, and it wears a little every time you take off. In an automatic, the transmission relies on clean fluid and healthy internal parts to change gears smoothly. Problems in either usually start small, and catching them early can prevent much costlier damage.

We replace clutches and related parts such as flywheels and hydraulic components, service automatic transmissions, and diagnose shifting, noise and leak problems on all makes and models. You'll know what's wrong and what it will cost before we start.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a clutch last?

It varies a lot with driving style, load and conditions. Stop-start traffic, towing and resting your foot on the pedal all shorten its life. Some clutches last a very long time, while others wear out much sooner.

Does an automatic transmission need servicing?

Many do. Transmission fluid breaks down over time, and many manufacturers specify fluid changes at set intervals. Check your log book, or ask us to check the schedule for your car.

Can I keep driving with a slipping clutch?

Not for long. A slipping clutch gets worse quickly and can damage the flywheel, which makes the repair more expensive. It can also leave you without drive at the worst moment.
